Art & Photography - Nature & Bird Spotting - Other Places of Interest
There are an endless list of places to sit, relax and spend the
day painting and photographing. Look no further than Miravet
itself where you will often see artists sitting down for the day
with their easel and paint brush at hand to paint the old
quarter, surrounding landscapes and river. The countless
villages and towns with their historical old quarters,
spectacular landscapes views and river make this county a really
beautiful area to put brush to paper. It is no wonder this area
and its surrounding nature parks are beloved by artists – the
beauty of the views on a clear, sunny winter’s day and the rich
palette of colours in spring and autumn make this an ideal spot. “Everything I know, I learnt at Horta” were the words of the famous artist Pablo Picasso who visited the village as a young man and was inspired by the landscapes surrounding Horta for some of his works of art. The museum is located in the old Hospital building built in 1580 and holds some original artwork of Picasso and replicas of all 200 pieces he completed between June 1898 and 1909. The Gaudí Centre at Reus is well worth a visit located in a 1,200m2 centre offering an insight into the work and mind of the world famous architect, Antoni Gaudí, born and educated in Reus before leaving for Barcelona.
